What a great summer we had… but autumn on the farm is fabulous now that things are cooling down here on The Shore. The trees are starting to turn, and the mornings and evenings are chilly. The sheep are able to graze beyond the shaded tree lines, and the geese have started to join them in the pastures. As you can see, it’s actually getting pretty crowded out there!
Sage our Border Collie has been busy…first separating “the boys” from their mothers and sisters, and then again rounding up the few that sneak back out to be with the gals. With one lambing season under our belts, we are getting ready to breed our 17 ewes again this fall. Randy, our main man from last year isn’t free so we’ve lined up a new ram to join us for about 2 months in November. Stay tuned for updated photos! This will also keep Sage occupied…helping round up and separate the ewe lambs not ready to breed and then keeping Mr. Studmuffin with his harem.
Thanks to all of you, our partnerships with The Village Shoppe here in St. Michael’s and Pam the Butcher at Wagshal’s in DC have been a huge success…our lamb sold out within days of each offering. Both places will have lamb available again this week, so keep an eye out for further emails.
Half Lambs Available Direct from the Farm
We hope you’ll join us for our inaugural fall harvest! Many of you have asked, so by popular demand we are offering 1/2 lamb packages directly to our customers. We expect to deliver to the Washington, DC area and Talbot, Caroline, Queen Anne, Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties in Maryland, or make the lamb available for pick-up at a convenient location. We will also ship anywhere in the United States at an additional cost. Half lambs are offered at $275. They include a rack of lamb, loin chops, leg of lamb, lamb shank and ground lamb, and we can accommodate custom requests.
If you are interested in a half lamb, please email us at info@branchhoneyfarm.com by November 1. We expect to deliver the lamb in late November.
And last but not least… come out and visit us!!! All of us at BHF (humans and animals) love visitors.
If we don’t see you in town or at the farm, have a wonderful fall.
