Allyson T’s Gourmet Lamb Burgers

So… maybe you’re having an upscale lunch or dinner… but you really have a hankering for lamb burgers (and who wouldn’t, right?).  Our friend Allyson T has the perfect solution with this zshuszhed-up gourmet lamb burger recipe.

We suggest the ingredient amounts below, but you can adjust the cheese and herb/spice portions to taste.  Enjoy, and DON’T skip the herb-buttered potato rolls or the Honeycup honey mustard.  They take this already-great recipe to the next level.

Ingredients

  • One pound of ground lamb
  • ¼ cup of feta cheese
  • 2 tblpns fresh chopped rosemary
  • 1 tblspn oregano
  • Healthy sprinkle of garlic salt
  • Pepper to taste

Some additional rosemary, oregano and garlic salt for the herb-buttered rolls

The best potato hamburger rolls you can find

Honeycup Uniquely Sharp Mustard

For the burgers

Combine all of the ingredients above in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.

Create 3-5 patties per pound, depending on desired burger size, but don’t make them more than about ¾ inch thick unless you want the middle of the burger to still be baaahing.

Grill or sauté to desired temp… but going above medium tends to cook the herb and spice flavors out of the burger.

For the herb-buttered potato rolls

Take some more rosemary, oregano and garlic salt and make an herb butter.  To do this, we put a stick of butter on tinfoil, pound it flat, sprinkle the herbs on top, and then roll up the tinfoil, continuing to mash butter and herbs together as you roll.  Let it soften for spreading.

Spread the butter generously on the potato rolls and broil them (carefully) until golden brown.

Serve with the Honeycup honey mustard and whatever sides you choose.  Go light on the burger fixin’s, since the flavors of this recipe will speak for themselves.  Enjoy!
